How we turn vision into reality: The AMH workspace design process explained
From insight to direction
Every great workspace starts with understanding, so the first part of our work is all about listening. We take the time to learn how your organisation works day to day and gather the insight that will guide the design.
Once we have that in hand, we move into the design stage. And we’re not going to call this the fun part, because if the process doesn’t feel enjoyable and fun from the beginning, we’re doing something wrong. But this is an exciting moment, it’s where everything we learned during consultancy starts to take shape and turn into clear direction for your workspace.
This stage gives you a realistic view of how your future workspace could look and, importantly, the thinking behind each decision. It’s where we work with you on what’s right for your people and your business and begin designing a workspace that works harder for you.
Developing early concepts
With a clear sense of your organisation, our design team begins ideating early concepts. This is the really exciting part because this is where you’ll see how your workspace design could come to life for the first time. These initial ideas will show how different areas could support different activities, how people might move through the space and how the design supports your goals.
We walk you through each concept, explain the thinking behind it and refine the direction with your input. It’s a team effort and we’ll want to hear what your initial thoughts, feelings and gut reactions are, which helps everyone become aligned before decisions become detailed.
Creating a design you can feel confident in
As the concept develops, we refine it into something that supports your daily activities. We look at the flow of the space, the needs of your teams and the moments where people benefit from calm, sociability or focus.
Materials, lighting, acoustics and furniture are chosen carefully so the workspace feels comfortable, durable and considered. Each decision is rooted in how your people work, and we talk you through the reasoning, so choices feel clear and informed.
Refining the detail
When the direction is agreed, we refine the drawings and specifications. Layouts become more precise, finishes are confirmed and technical details are reviewed with the wider team.
This level of detail means you enter the fit-out stage with confidence. You know exactly what is being created and why the design supports your people and your business.
Confidence before, during and after construction
By the end of the design stage, you will have a design you can have absolute confidence in, before we move to the build. You’ll have a full understanding of the layout, the decisions behind it and how the space will support your teams. It’s so important for us that you feel clear and confident during every stage of the process.
